Macchu Picchu and Wayna Picchu
Macchu Picchu, one of the 7 wonders, this place is incredible!! You can access it from Cuzco or Ollantaytambo by taking the train which can cost 80 to 120 USD and takes you to Aguas Calientes. Or you can pay a tour that includes transportation from Cuzco to Hidroelectrica (Hydroelectric station which is a two-hour walk from Aguascalientes), the Macchu Picchu entry and night/s in Aguascalientes. From Aguas Calientes, you can take a bus to the Macchu Picchu (19.5 USD round trip) or make it by stairs.
For those who are planning to visit the Wayna Picchu, you should know there is a limit of 400 people per day. There are 2 authorized schedules to enter the site: entrance from 7 am to 8 am and entrance from 10 am to 11 am. The ticket has to be bought 10 days before the date of your trek. Entries cost 62 USD for adults and 39 USD for students.
Since 1st July, the entrance and visit to Machu Picchu were limited due to the huge amount of people who visit this site, which is already collapsed. Faced with this situation, new rules were created that will regulate the visit to Machu Picchu in order to maintain its conservation.
These are the following rules:
Hours: Now you must choose your visit between two shifts, the first is from 06:00 to 12:00 and the second from 12:00 to 17:30 hours, with a maximum stay of 4 hours.
Guide: In order to visit the Macchu Picchu village you must do it with a guide. Each guide can bring up to 16 people in your group.
Re-entry: You can only go out and re-enter the site once, during the hours that correspond to each visitor, and is within four hours.
It is forbidden to enter with: selfie-sticks, food, drinks, umbrellas, animals, high heels, musical instruments and baby cars.
The Inca Trail
There are many Inca trail tours you can do, the classic one is the one that takes 4 days to arrive at the Inca ruins of Macchu Picchu for the sunrise of the fourth day. The trek is rated as a moderate difficulty so if you are reasonably fit you should be able to do it nevertheless you reach altitudes of 4200m so it can be challenging.
